Flashback Video: Whitney and Mariah

Another duet love muffins. This song wasn’t quite the “Battle of the Divas” everyone hoped that it would be but it’s still good to see these two sing a song together. “When You Believe” was a little too mushy for me. Secretly I was hoping Whitney and Mariah would do something like Brandy and Monica but it didn’t happen! I guess you take what you can get!

Flashback Video: Celine Dion and R. Kelly

Another Duet love muffins. I must admit that Celine Dion and R. Kelly is an unlikely pairing but the song seemed to work. R. Kelly is a wonderful producer and Celine is a brilliant vocalist. When you put them together and “I’m Your Angel” is what you get. Another great duet!

Flashback Video: Brandy and Monica

All this week, the flashback videos will be from famous DUETS. I’ll start with one of my favorites. Brandy and Monica’s powerhouse pairing for “The Boy Is Mine” was so great because no one saw it coming. The song was hot and the video was even hotter. The two R&B sirens proved that they were just as good together as they were apart. This is how a duet should be done. I LOVE IT!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest rappers to ever touch the mic: The Notorious B.I.G. The man was just a genius wordsmith and his influence can be seen with every rapper around today. “One More Chance” was my favorite videos of his because it wasn’t about girls, cars, or money. It’s just a house party in Brooklyn…that’s real hip-hop. R.I.P. B.I.G!

Guilty Pleasure Alert: Don’t laugh…You brought this on yourselves! 10 years ago “Wanna Be” by the Spice Girls was the #1 on Billboard Hot 100! Where are they now? Posh is hopping across the pond and moving to the US, Baby and Scary are knocked up, Sporty is still taking a stab at music, and who the hell knows what Ginger’s doing? Once again…you can only blame yourselves!

It’s weird saying this but…Paula Abdul used to be the S#!t. Now she can barely form a complete sentence and she’s known to us here at lovebscott.com as Pill-Poppin-Paula! But once upon a time she was a pop princess. Not only did she choreograph for everyone under the sun (Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, etc.) but she also had 6 #1 singles. “Straight Up” was her first smash hit and I just love the video. It’s just her and her dance moves (and Arsenio Hall???). If you didn’t get enough of Paula on AI last night, this will help you get your fix.

Flashback Video: Sinead O’Connor

Before Britney was sporting the Mr. Clean look, Sinead O’Connor was rocking the BALD look. “Nothing Compares 2 U” was a great song originally written and recorded by Prince but Sinead’s rendition brought a level of emotion to the song that truly made it her own. The depth of her emotion can be seen in this brilliantly simplistic video. It’s hard to take your eyes off her!

Flashback Video: Michael Jackson

After yesterday’s Michael sighting I had to post this. “You’re Butt Is Mine…” What other artists could get away with saying those lyrics in a song? 20 years ago Michael Jackson launched the BAD album with this epic song and video as the lead-off single. This was back when a Micheal Jackson video was a main event. I remember all the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) would interrupt their normal programming just to premiere his videos. My, how things have changed. This video is BAD (and I mean that in the best way possible)! JAMON Love Muffins!
