Did You Watch The Debate?
September 26, 2008
Did you watch the opening presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama who outlined their differences on a range of foreign policy and economic issues, thoughts?

MO on September 26, 2008 at 11:53 pm #
well…I think McCain beleives in what he is saying, having ssid that what he beleives in leaves out a substantial block of the american population…I found him extremelly condescending, and im hoping its cuz he’s old and thinks the younger candidate has no experience cuz the alternative would lead me to beleive it was racial…either way not a good look. Obama had undeniable presidential swagger this evening and I hope “they”(pundants and some members of mainstreem america and republicans) continue to scrutinize Obama like they do…becuase when your good its undeniable! And so naturally they nit pick for insignficant superficial nothings to talk about because Obama was formidable and on point! YAY!!!!
Tulip.Trollop on September 27, 2008 at 12:53 am #
Um It was really close. McCain wins with all his cheat shots Obama on actaully explaining his views

I thought they both did well. Except John McCain did not answer questions on future threats to America and he tended to be all over the place with his answers. I think he owned Obama on the “again, Senator Obama does not understand” phrase and Obama should have never said McCain was right. That phrase by Obama should have been avoided like the plague. Overall Barack Obama looked very presidential and confident of his leadership skills, position of respect around the world and getting to the bottom or root of issues that have or will weaken America.
Additionally, McCain is more of the same with his insistance and Bush like denial that we won the war in Iraq. As Barack pointed out on several occasions and as facts confirm….we did not win anything in Iraq. Instead we have mad them wealthy at the expense of our economy.
Like any country, state or town their are areas of prosperity and areas of poverty and violence. Iraq is no different and the insurgents are merely laying low in some areas and gaining much ground in others. The facts are, Iraq has asked the U.S. to leave consistently for the past 6 months because they want their country back, free of american rule and influence. Please check the facts. Bush has lied to us consistently for the past 7 yrs. and McCain will just continue the same and with a smile plastered on his face.

I thought it was very intresting that McCain never looked Obama in the face as he was talking…while on the filp side Obama Looked McCain dead in his face, and would stop him on something if he felt it was wrong. McCain was doind his best to follow his script up until Foreign policy..and thats when he loosened his tie so to say..and said ok I got this…
To me..I think its very important to have expierence on foreign policy and all that…however RIGHT NOW..I dont care about that RIGHT NOW AT THIS POINT,WITH THE STATE WE ARE IN. We can talk about all the people you know over seas..and who invited you to dinner one night and that long talk you had with your homies over seas and all that crap later..but for RIGHT NOW? Lets focus on AMERICA and getting out sh!t together Economy Economy Economy…talk about Health care..Jobs..money..This horrible GAS situation!! US the middle class!! Speaking of that McCain not once said Middle class the whole night..and I just thought that was like a Slap in the face..how dare this man show up to a debate where the economy is obviously the elephant in the room..and not mention the people who I think are being most affected by it.
I dont think obama was perfect tonight..but he was walking the walk and going toe to toe with McCain…for him to be so “inexperienced.” Also the fact that Mccain tried to pull that whole foreign policy expierence card…and obama made it CLEAR with no shame in his game that, Biden has it on lock when it comes to that. Which is why I really dig obama for not picking hilary just because thats what people wanted him to do. He made a decision that was best for his campaign and someone who he believes will be a great partner and picks up where he lacks, which IS a hughe factor in making a perfect team…while McCain picked who again??…..a choice he made pretty much saying oh women will vote for me because my partner has breast…get the F*ck out! Failed! What does this woman do for him?? really what the hell does she offer?? to me…NOT A DAMN THING. I find it so sad that we have women and some hilary voters unforuntely who will vote for this ticket because there is a woman on it? Not really giving a damn what she believes in or can do for us(not a damn thing) as a country…but just because she is a woman…I think the women of america have come to far with their rights to be mocked like this..

I think McCain did better on his overall presentation (NOT NECESSARILY THIS ISSUES OR ANSWERS HE GAVE) but the way he presented himself - gave him the appearance of an experienced, level headed, controlled, calm individual. Eventhough I’m voting for Obama anyway - I just think McCain did a good job in making Obama seem green and unexpereinced - He said things like “naive - over and over” - and he also said Obama “didn’t understnad” - and I noticed him just basically not getting upset at anything Obama said - but even laughing at him.

I think Obama held his own! I’m sorry McCain just seems like a talking head Bush to me…more of the same. Also, McCain body language was horrible. I am big on eye contact and he missed it on that one. I do agree Obama should not have said the “John is right” but I think he just has enough confidence to give credit where credit is do. I did get a condescending vibe from McCain. I do believe McCain had some prozac or something to calm that azz down and prevent him from getting the red face (LOL)…Blood test anybody???
what.she.said on September 27, 2008 at 10:10 am #
I will give the Republican machine their due, because by Sunday afternoon I’m sure the pundits will have everyone thinking McCain wiped the floor with Obama. They were all over CNN and MSNBC after the debate, but there was a noticable absence of Sarah Palin. That’s the problem with American politics — no one thinks for him/ herself anymore.

Youngin19, please check with your registrar of voters in your own county and state. It is not illegal to wear printed T’s to the polls. It is in fact illegal “against the law for a poll worker to deny you your voting rights because of a printed Obama T. You will be able to vote if you have on a Obama T-shirt. Hats and or pins ARE NOT not allowed as that is considered a easily removeabl item.
Check the facts and know your rights. Voting day is going to be a huge change rally. The only way you will be denied a vote is if you are not registered and your Name does not match your registration on the books. DO NOT LET ANYONE STOP YOU FROM VOTING…if they ask you to take off your pins or hats take it off….but don’t get naked because then you will be in violation of public nudity laws and you will not be able to vote. Also if you are not registered within the next week or two forget about it! you won’t be able to vote either. so google last day to vote in ____ enter your state. GOTV
If you want real facts and not rumors google Registrar of voters, your county or state.
Peace n Blessings…now let’s go change the world.

Obama was charismatic…smart and straight forward with his views.
McCain couldn’t hold a glass of water compared to the professionalism Obama had on that stage last night.
Obama is just so damn intelligent.
Obama is that change we need……serious. If McCain wins, im moving to Canada.

For Me Obama did great !John Mccain did a good job but he had a ninety minute debate especilly the part on economics and did not once say MIDDLE CLASS!I felt like Obama was talking to me ,I felt like John Mcain was talking at me. What Obama was very skillful at doing is always tying his policies to how it will benefit the little people. And two apperaing very bipartisan on issues,That’s why i dissagree with those who think Obama shuld not have said Good job to Mccain. The fact of the matter is Mccain claims to be a Maverick and Bipartisan but displayed none of that in this debate.Another thing is the people who Obama and Mccain are trying to win over at this point are not their base it’s the independents and Obama did a better job of speking the lanuage ,most independents want to hear.As far as substance goes Mccain had very little to offer , he lied throughout the night and Obama did not miss an oppurtunity to call his ass out .Bottom line is if National Security is John Mccains EXPERTISE he did a piss poor Job because he should have wiped the floor with Obama .That he did not do ..
DH on September 27, 2008 at 3:07 pm #
Yea he did say…sen. Obama doesn’t understand a lot.If I was obama I would’ve asked his ass what is it that I don’t understand John!!!Everything is pretty damn clear!!!!Obama should have put him on the spot more I think..John mcCain is a old fart..GTFOH
P.S=Did you pick up on the vibe between the two when obama said…”when osama was still out” Think about it people…..
Southern Queen Dee on September 27, 2008 at 4:49 pm #
Dejae, you might have written a lot, but I read the entire thing and agree with you wholeheartedly. I think Barack was killing McCain because he didn’t seem cynical of him and didn’t disrespect him even when calling his ass out for the many lies and fabrications that came out of his mouth. McCain, however, didn’t give the same respect. Am I the only one who noticed how when Barack was allowed to answer first, McCain began his responses with “What Senator Obama fails to recognize” or something similar? It seemed like he was more focused on “one upping” Barack than making his stance on the issues at hand perfectly clear. And he also seemed intimidated by Barack because he kept focusing on his being a POW and Barack’s lack of foreign policy since he knows that’s all he has over Barack. They both have their supporters already, so the independents is who they should’ve been focusing on. Instead, McCain was pro-conservative and turned them all off. An average of 63% of all polled independents said Barack won the debate. To me, McCain took a MAJOR “L” last night because for someone so much more experienced than his opponent, he damn sure didn’t show it!

I think Obama needs to come stronger, all of that “I agree with Mccain” crap was irritating..YOU’RE TRYING TO BECOME PRESIDENT AND YOU NEED TO KNOCK HIS ASS OUT WITH THIS ONE..I was waiting for him to stop being soo nice and take the gloves off and get busy! Another thing was all of the rambling that was going on with the both of them..Can we get a yes or no answer and then further explain..I was tired of hearing a bunch of rambling in the middle…
MyOpinion on September 27, 2008 at 7:25 pm #
mccain was rambling on and on about bullshit and not answering the questions. Obama answered all the questions thoroughly just as i expected him to do. this was supposed to be mccain night but hes so called more experienced. please whatever. where was arnold swarzzneggar(sp) experience when he ran for gov od cali, where was ronald reagan experience when he became president. all this bullcrap about experience is so far run in the ground is pathethic. no one really knows what they will do until it happen. in any position, not just with politics.
Obama did his thing and im proud of that, i know my money is not being wasted. and i too cant wait until the vice presidential debate. Biden is going to chew palin apart.
GayMcCainonite on September 27, 2008 at 10:29 pm #
I really feel McCain won this one. I remember thinking, “McCain is reeling him in for something,” and sure enough he did. Now I may be a bit biased, but I think most of us are in some sense! I also want to point out that Sarah Palin, though religious in nature, has actually been the most supportive of gayrights. She signed into law, while making it known she didn’t agree with it, same-sex benefits in Alaska. She let it known that she knew it was granted by the Constitution, which is more than can be said by any of the other 3 presidential/vice presidential candidates.

obama won hands down. mccain WAS very condescending and never once looked obama in the face. i thought he was very disrespectful. and yes, palin is gonna get OWNED by biden this week.
CESSEX on September 29, 2008 at 11:13 am #
Gaymc, for being gay you sure don’t know the facts that impact your community. McCain would be the first one to deny you every human right because of your sexual preference and a McCain president would put Sarah Palin straight in the closet. She is just a prop to him…if he coul have asked Britney Spears to be VP he would have.
nycathart on September 29, 2008 at 2:31 pm #
Hand’s down — OBAMA won that debate!!!!!!
Why in the hell was McCain lying on Obama. Of course Obama wasn’t going for it!
After watching this debate, I cant wait to see Biden tear Ms. Palin a new one :-)!

McCain..is garbage. Please watch the movie Left BEHIND!! OMG! You will see him! Anywho, Obama, made me so PROUD to be an African American. YEEEES! Young and Black..it doesn’t get any better than that!
