Let me start off by saying congratulations to Britney Spears finally winning 3 moonmen at the 2008 MTV VMA’s. In her 10 year history, she has always been nominated at the VMA’s but has never won a single moonman, until now. She looked absolutely divine! Just amazing! Yea “Piece of Me” was a good video but not THAT good. I thinks its all about ratings. Britney brought MTV major ratings last year so of course they wanted her back so she probably made them give her words in order to show up. And poor Mariah- she’s now the VMA’s biggest loser but deservedly so because her videos are never noteworthy.

i has BEYOND happy to see her back. she looked AMAZING but i do believe these were sympathy awards….. even SHE was shocked she won anything.

She totally got sympathy votes. Perez Hilton said that he is on the MTV voting committee and voted for Britney because he felt “she needed it”. What kind of shit is that? The album was crap and she did little to no promotion for it. She was a mess pretty much the entire time of the album’s run.
She gets pity votes over artists who worked their asses off or were at least everywhere with their promotion.
MTV has 0 credibility if they let idiots like Perez Hilton on their voting committee.

Okay, I felt bad because I thought they just gave her the awards out of sympathy. Now I see that I’m not the only one who feels this way. But I ain’t mad at Britt Britt. I’m glad to see that she is doing better. I’m excited for her. I love strong women. She’s proven to be a survivor, and she has my support.

Overall the VMA’s were a let down for me. I am glad Britney won an award I did think her last album was pretty good its just that all the negativity out shined her music. With saying that I dont think she deserved 3 moon men I mean come on after the second one it does come off as a little obvious they were trying to boost her spirits. But Im sure even though she is thankful to win its not satisfying to her and maybe it will fuel her to continue to strive forward.

I definately agree with most that she got they sympathy vote…and I am surprised that she has never won a VMA before because her past videos were always hot….her new VIDEOS (not songs because her album was nice) dont compare at all to what she did in the past.
But oh welll…maybe this will spark her to really put in alot for her comeback

Britney did not deserve any of those awards for that song Piece Of Me. Britney has given far better videos that deserved the moonman. Even Britney felt uncomfortable getting those awards because she knew she did deserve them.

Where to begin? The whole show was fixed. Tokio Hotel for best new artist? Chris Brown for best male over Wayne? PCD for best dance over Chris? Katy Perry wins nothing? I was disaappointed. What made me most pissed is Christina. Her “new” look and sound….
Wowzers. Sounds like Gwen and looks like Lady GaGa. When she went to the main stage, didn’t it sound like Brit brits ‘Radar’? Sooo so pissed. And Britney deserved none. Maybe best pop but the other 2…. No.

I don’t think MC will ever win a VMA in America. Pieces of Me winning video of the year just shows that music in the US is awful now. That video was nothing special.
I’m so glad I didn’t watch this years VMA’s, it sounds like the whole show was horrible. MTV sucks I don’t see why they even hand out Moonmans anymore they don’t even show no damn videos anymore. MTV in the 80’s and 90’s were good they suck really bad now.

I agree that they were definately pity awards but I must qualify that with a few statements.
Her album WAS hot..and on the strength of that, i think she deserved at least one award.
The video for Piece of Me was nothing special, however she has had better videos in the past that didnt get any awards - so they kind of owed her something because MTV has banked lots of money off of Britneys name over the years. It was nice of them to give back.
Lastly, I dont think anyone would be as bitter about the awards if she actually got off her ass and promoted her album because it was a really strong piece of work - but she was going through her drama so - I think she did her best to give what she could given the circumstances…so I’ll cut MTV some slack for throwing her the awards. I think after her visit with Mel..she’s been back on track and she seems SANE and able to cope again.
Now Britney…the ball is in your court. Do your work. No half-steppen!

Of course it was rigged. Promotion. And I don’t think it was out of pity and her performance last year had NOTHING to do with it. The name “Britney Spears” is synonymous with MTV and vice versa. She lost EVERY award Toxic was nominated for in 2004 to a bunch of whack ass undeserving videos (i.e. It’s My Life by No Doubt). This wasn’t about the Piece Of Me video. This was about promotion and giving credit where credit was due. And as much as MTV uses her for their own personal gain, it’s about damn time.

I agree Britney did deserve a Moonman but NOT this year for ‘Pieces Of Me’.
Oh and I don’t get others logic that just because she deserved it in the past then she should of got one for lost time. How in the hell do you explain Mariah then. She deserved a Moonman back in 97 for ‘Honey’ , she has still never got a moonman in America.
This was a pity vote plain and simple. lets give the ole’ crack-head turn around a moonman cause she changed her life. what’s next a freakin grammy for best vocal performance I guess Whitney deserves a moonman also.
