“Just Stand Up”…Were You Amazed?

September 5, 2008

Love muffins, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, and Carrie Underwood just to name a few, truly amazed me! However, as much as I wanted to jump up and down for this inspirational charity song, I felt like I was cheated somehow with the “Just Stand Up” performance. Did you notice Beyonce’s short hair do?

Yes honey beyonce totally went and did a rihanna…wow i cant believe she copied ri ri’s hair style but bigger and blonde…i know rihanna was like this HEFFA..lol…loved the performance, and mariah sounded great live…i know ciara and ashanti felt dumb, i mean they were the only ones without solo’s even miley got a lil solo..lol

  2. kk on September 5, 2008 at 8:37 pm #

beyonce’s hair was distracting; very bad wig…love the cause, they should have practiced the song a bit more.

  3. browngirl411 on September 5, 2008 at 8:51 pm #

I think Bey is wearing a wig. I thinks it makes her look older. BTW loved the song. overall everyone looked great and sound great.

  4. LittleMsPiggy on September 5, 2008 at 9:05 pm #

i never noticed this before, but, i really don’t like miley’s voice, lol. when i started watching this, i was like, oh no… why isn’t mariah starting the song, but then she finally came in. hahah the song is super cheesy, but oh well. it’s great they all can get together, but who let nicole, natasha and miley in?? i understand rihanna is there because she’s hot right now, but her voice isn’t all that great either.

  5. Dablkberry on September 5, 2008 at 9:19 pm #

i thought it was kool. apart from havin a good message the song is quite catchy. and cool.

  6. Nikki on September 5, 2008 at 9:20 pm #

Beyonce is sporting that Etta James hair (she is playing her in a movie).

  7. Selena on September 5, 2008 at 9:20 pm #

BScott At BEYONCENOW.NET they have the pics of beyonce performing at At Fashion Rocks. She performed Twice. Until The End Of Time and AT LASt! SHES BACKKK!

  8. sean on September 5, 2008 at 9:28 pm #

I thought the performance was o.k. they should of let them perform the whole song instead of bits and pieces of it. I thought Beyonce killed her part I loved when she said “You need to know” she put that soul and fire in that part. I though Mariah didn’t do to good it sounded like she struggled to sing her part. And Beyonce’s Hair was something that i think a few people wanted to see, which was a change in hair style i thought the hairstyle was cute, but it won’t all that or nothin.

  9. boo on September 5, 2008 at 9:33 pm #

um ma rah………..bee”s hair betta have something to do with etta james on the fashion rocks shows

Mariah IS OFFICIALLY a studio singers

mary j, bee, leona, rihanna, carrie, natasha, fergie were great

FOR THE MARIAH FANS THAT WHISTLE AT THE END WAS NOT LIVE

  10. Ms. Nicesty on September 5, 2008 at 10:01 pm #

now i get that Beyonce was tryin to be different with her wig but it was a HOT MESS, she is not on the set of the Etta James movie, so she should have left that one alone!!!! Other than that the performance was pretty good no one tried to out sing anyone, so it was cool

  11. hollywoodbrandon on September 5, 2008 at 10:01 pm #

Well I just got back home from this… and I KNEWWW B.Scott was going to say something like that! lol. I SO feel let down as well. And we ALL knew Beyonce was going to do good.. .lol…bitch can rock a stage at anytime or place.

The REAL reason i was looking forward to it of course was Mariah. Butttt then again, as soon as I bought the song on iTunes and listened to it… I’m like that’s not Mariah’s best. I’m like a number one lamb…thats there to defend her at any time…but more and more things like these are making me believe that homegirls vocals are cominnn down. And I dont care at all b/c she’s put in almost 20 hard years of work in this industry… if she wants to start smokin dat green shtuff (JUST A THEORY! lol.. with all the references in the recent songs)….and drink, and be free and have fun…THEN GO FOR IT. She deserves it.

I think Miley was completely out of her league…. why her management let her on that stage is a mystery for me…but hey if she feels comfortable: its’ for a good cause. =]

The rest of the show was great, the clothes were out of this world…the other performances were cool…. I have the cancer benefit recorded, so I can’t wait to see what happened there.

  12. NB on September 5, 2008 at 10:09 pm #

some of those girls are soundin a hot mess but fergie i think sounds the best

  13. LaLa on September 5, 2008 at 10:30 pm #

How did you feel cheated B? It was nice and simple. Personally i think some of them can not sing live but hey!…lol

    What were your expectations?

  14. Melzy on September 5, 2008 at 10:51 pm #

Okay, Beyonce is trying to be different . i think she read some of the online blogs, but I was not feeling the wig on her. I didnt hear a word from Ciara and Nicole. Keyshia, Ashanti, and Leona did fine. Miley was a bit annoying with her little two words with Rhianna. Mary, mariah and Carrie did good, and fergie was the worst IMO! But Overall , they get a B- lol. They were ight.

  15. latouche on September 5, 2008 at 10:56 pm #

OH NO B YOU LOOK A HOT MESS GIRL NOT BLONDE IS THAT A RIRI OR KEYSHIA COLE WANNA BE LOOK LOL HAIR POLICE … DIDNT SHE JUST DO DREAM GIRLS WHY SHE HAS TO BE ETTA JAMES NOW OMG NEXT

  16. J on September 5, 2008 at 10:57 pm #

I wasnt to impress by the performance I thought it was going to be a bit better I wasnt amazed it was average but I love beyonce and carrie underwood voice

ya i agree with you Lala most of them really cant sing live dam miley cyrus is annoying her voice

  17. J on September 5, 2008 at 10:59 pm #

I thought the best one was Fergie

  18. Sistah_Mellowkat on September 5, 2008 at 11:04 pm #

i don’t remember nicole being in the original but it’s great

THEY ALL LOOKED BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR OWN WAY !!!

    it was very nice

  19. Mina330 on September 5, 2008 at 11:15 pm #

There singing was not the best, it was dry for my taste but it was for a cause. B’s hair or wig was not saying it. Its to thick and big for her head.

  20. DrmKpr on September 5, 2008 at 11:26 pm #

I’m not a fan of alot of the voices that was on the stage but seeing that the song was for a worthy cause I overlooked it. I wasn’t let down persay but I am beyond glad that no one save for Natasha tried to outsing anyone else. I’m not going to post any bad words about Beyonce because I did care much for her but the wig was not hitting it… and was it just me or did Miley seem hella nervous… I could have done without her on the song but it’s for charity so I’m going to ignore her this go round… hope they raised hella funds for cancer research…

  21. KelliQuik on September 6, 2008 at 1:03 am #

Bey’s wig wasn’t cute to me, which is sad because she’s so pretty. It was a little too puffy and too blonde, but it must have had something to do with the etta james thing she’s doing. ‘Cause you know my girl never leaves home without the 50lb. weave (just keeping it real, you all know I love Bey!)

  22. Ms.NeeCee on September 6, 2008 at 1:41 am #

I loved it, there was a lot of power there. Oh, and seeing them all together was the good thing. Hell 2 the know at Miley, that voice needs to stay on Disney! Sounded like a character. B’s wig was different but she could rock a bald mohawk and still be the epitomy of beauty.

  23. Akesha on September 6, 2008 at 7:24 am #

This reminded me of singing the final song in my 6th grade play, lol. But the cause/purpose was a great one so Kudos to that.

  24. licia on September 6, 2008 at 8:21 am #

they all did good. it was a good cause so i am not going to focus on beyonce’s wig( although i would really love to talk reckless about it ) or anything else negative. alot of people are forgetting what they were singing for and what the night wwas about . i am surprised that mariah was even able to be there considering her dad died from cancer. that couldn’t have easy. i can’t believe alot of the survivors were even able to handle it.i would have been in tears and not able to function. i applaud them all.

  25. The Cheerleader 22 on September 6, 2008 at 9:22 am #

Mary J. Blige, Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, and Fergie should’ve been the only people singing.

I love Mariah but…. I’m not going to really say anything negative today about her.

  26. The Cheerleader 22 on September 6, 2008 at 9:23 am #

Oh and Beyonce, looked like a blonde Garfield died on her head.

  27. Shisa on September 6, 2008 at 10:12 am #

At the end Mariah was also singing in the background and you can recognize her voice quite easily, but they didn’t show the close-up of her. She still has the voice, but she didn’t sing too much here and it is easy to sing at the begininng of the song (Beyonce) than just have 3 words to add and give your all talent and voice at this point. Mariah was never a concert queen.

  28. Shisa on September 6, 2008 at 10:13 am #

One more thing - Mariah performed also I’m that chick - I hate this track, but the dress… FINALLY!! MC is looking beautiful!!!

  29. 2Sassy on September 6, 2008 at 11:45 am #

Why was Ciara there? (And Bey coulda KEPT the wig. Lookin’ like Keyshia Cole but not for a second pulling it off.) Go ‘head ladies!! Felt good in my heart to see them all at once.

  30. TheMan on September 6, 2008 at 1:53 pm #

Mariah, mariah, mariah, what the hell happened, she was suppose to hit a big note after her line and she tanked???? then the whistles were the pre-recorded ones. was she nervous because she was on stage with other big voices? Bey and Mariah carried the song and surprisingly FERGIE

  31. jayizmee08 on September 6, 2008 at 3:00 pm #

I always think it’s very inspirational to see artistis getting together for a good cause!! I absolutely love it, love it, love it!!

  32. TheMan on September 6, 2008 at 3:35 pm #

my bad Bey and MARY carried the song

  33. Ryan on September 6, 2008 at 4:35 pm #

Omg i watched this last night…it almost had me in tears 4real :| it wuz really sad i luved da perfomance though 5 stars :)

  34. Margo on September 6, 2008 at 7:43 pm #

I havent heard the whole song….but I liked it as this is the first time I am hearing it. How do they have the audacity to put Miley Cyrus on the same stage singing with Mariah, Beyonce, Mary J, Ashanti, Nicole Scherzinger, Carrie Underwood, etc….Miley just sounded like a dying cat!!! Absolutely terrible! But the rest of the singers were great!

On another note….Beyonce’s wig is a BIG..NO NO!! I love you B but that wig is a damn mess!!

  35. RICHEE on September 6, 2008 at 9:28 pm #

…NO FANTASIA OR ALICIA, COME ON???? I WISH JANET COULD’VE GOT SOME AIR TIME BUT HEY THESE NEW GENERATION ***S NEED MONEY TOO ;)

  36. Meehsuee on September 6, 2008 at 9:29 pm #

So touching, and truly beautiful…. I hope Cancer will so have a cure… Yes, “Love Muffins” we have to Stand up…..

  37. millionaireDiva on September 6, 2008 at 10:09 pm #

Beyonce was wearing the wig…because the pics of the girls after the show, her hair long and straight..That wig was very bad…but it was a great song loved it

  38. Riley on September 7, 2008 at 4:42 am #

Miley runied that performance! She stuck out sooo much and not in a good way. Other than that the performance was for a good cause so I’ll leave it at that.

  39. Melissa on September 7, 2008 at 3:21 pm #

okay, what about the song? forget about beyonce’s hair damn. Beyonce is the topic of every haters conversation. Just admit you like her. damn. Anyway B.scott, the performance was amazing, but why didn’t Ciara hve her own part?

  40. cory on September 8, 2008 at 5:30 am #

I dont remember nicle being on the song either. everyone had part but ciata.where was melissa ethridge.

  41. Ang on September 8, 2008 at 3:00 pm #

    iT SUCKED!!!

  42. Tia on September 8, 2008 at 8:47 pm #

MILEY= NEXT!!!!!!!!!! She sounded a hot mess and at one point she held a note for too long! But everyone else as great!

  43. tony on September 8, 2008 at 9:42 pm #

There were only 13 singers because Melissa Etheridge and Sherl Crow were someof the hosts of the show, but who did Nicole replace? she is not on the original, but I’m glad she was included.

  44. Lil Joe on September 9, 2008 at 10:29 pm #

i think Nicole replaced sherl crow since she sung her line in the performance. I’ve heard the original track and Mary, Beyonce and Melissa are really the ones who bring the song together. I’m very disappointed with Mariah, she used to be so good live–what happened?

  45. A.B. on September 24, 2008 at 4:54 pm #

Okay so I agree B’s hair looked like it was still under construction.(not feelin’ it) She was still beautiful though, as was all the females that performed. I’m gonna have to “Stand Up” for Miley and say that she wasn’t bad at all. she has a different voice that appeals to the young teenage audience. I’m glad she was on the song so that, that audience isn’t in the dark about cancer and that they too have a voice. Look at the big picture poeple.

I didn’t even know Ashanit and Ciara were on the song AT ALL! They served one purpose and one purpose only…….Unity.

Mariah, well I think she was just kicking it.

Kudos to all of these inspiring women.

  46. blueblooded yapster on December 1, 2008 at 11:31 pm #

    The performance was great.
Was that whistle even mariah’s? I actually though it was leona’s.
