Helen Mirren Date Rape & Cocaine!

September 4, 2008

Excerpts from Helen’s GQ Magazine (British’s Version) were released and of course the media had a field day with this juicy topic. Helen told the magazine that she had, in fact, been raped several times but not with excessive violence. She was locked in a room and forced to have sex against her will. And as far as cocaine usage, Helen said she “loved coke” and she “never did it a lot, just at parties.” Take me higher lord! Her spokesperson had this to say:

Helen Mirren does not dispute the accuracy of statements attributed to her in an upcoming GQ article. She merely asks that people read the article in its entirety before drawing conclusions. If they do that, she says, their conclusions will likely be far less sweeping and sensational than those drawn by some in the popular press. She does not wish to qualify any of her remarks. She just wants to avoid having them presented in inflammatory language.

Thoughts?

WHAT?! Ok, all of my thought I had about her have just evaporated. She could’ve kept this all to herself. I understand wanting a little attention, but OMG!

Just to counteract the positive spin that she appears to, rather irresponsibly in my view, be putting on her experience with the drug, please see this video, “The Truth About Cocaine”: http://www.drugfreeworld.org/psas/index.html?item=cocaine#player

I think everyone is overreacting (as usual). She simply stated things she’s experienced/went through in her life. What celeb hasn’t? I think the mag put out these comments because they’re the most salacious ones and they knew people would cop the mag to read more. Personally, I agree with her…people need to read the entire interview before judging her and what was said because we don’t know why it was said nor how since they’re words and not a live interview.
