Beyonce Covers British Marie Claire!

September 3, 2008

Beyonce’s back! Love muffins we got our hands on some exclusive excerpts of an interview Beyonce did in this months edition of British Marie Claire. Beyonce appears on the front cover of the magazine (which she absolutely killed with all types of fierceness) and takes part in a stunningly splendiferous photoshoot inside which I have included after the jump!

On why she uses her alter ego ‘Sasha’: “Things I do when I am performing I would never do normally” “I always wish I could feel the way I do on stage when I’m doing a movie because I have out of body experiences…I’m so fearless”

On who her song ‘Irreplaceable’ is about: “The obvious person is not the person at all”

On being a pop star: “There is a time limit on being a pop star yes, being a legend, an icon, absolutely not” “I’m over being a popstar, I don’t wana be a hot girl I wanna be iconic” “There are responsibilities that come along with this life…trying to have a romantic meal without someone sneaking in to film the whole thing. I have to work really hard and it’s fine because I like it, I love it, but it’s a lot of sacrifice”

On being a role model: “ I think I’m opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me”

On Barack Obama: “I’m really proud, I think we’re making a bit of progress, it’s an exciting time. We all feel part of our country now”

omg.. i am in totally in love with Beyonce… I love her quote… On Barack “We all feel part of our Country now”. It is so so so true, this is the first time - I really feel American. My mom is cuban and my dad is black….I was born in America - however, not until Barack Obama - I feel like an American.

I love love Beyonce.. Cant wait for her CD!

Nah, I think Beyonce and Rihanna will cater to different audiences now. Beyonce’s getting older while Rihanna is young and fresh. I saw somewhere that Beyonce said she’s over being a pop icon and a hot girl. There’s a reason for that. There are newer, younger hot girls and soon-to-be pop icons. She’s been replaced. That’s not hating on Beyonce, it’s just reality. Neither of them are going anywhere, and I think THAT’S A GREAT THING!!!!! Good luck to both of them!

Can someone please explain to me in what universe is 26 (27 tomorrow, Happy B Day Beyonce)old? When will it stop? Are we going to start having 5 year old pop stars because 18 years old is ancient?

The pic of her in the black looks a bit too photoshoped for me. She doesn’t need it! I love B!

I agree that 26 is getting oldish for today’s pop scene. Look at how much Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana is worth and she’s only 15. A grown ass woman has no business trying to compete in the same arena. Her subject matter is different and her audience has matured. An icon is able to do what works for her and her audience, not just what happens to be considered “hot” at the moment. This isn’t a bad thing. Jigga said it best: 30’s the new 20!

She answered very intellegently. She is really establishing herself as a influental Icon.

I LOVE beyonce and i always have and always will shes beautiful and her music is incredible but i hate it when she starts trippin over her race. Opened the door for black girls??!! what are you talking about girl for one you aint black your mixed race (part black part french native american) so dont be identifying yourself as black be proud of what you are how you gone be calling yourself black when yo mom aint even black. Im black and doors are open for me anyway noone has opened them for me people dont dwell so much on race anymore and how have you been opening doors for black women when you look like a white girl in your pictures surely if you want to be known as black youd have them darkened not lightened. Yo ass aint black girl its part of you but be proud to be bi racial thats your identity, and i hate how people are saying obama is doing wonders for black people, hes bi racial and grew up with his white family, he doesnt have the same black experience anyway he has no ancestry of slaves his dad is a migrant from kenya east africa slaves werent taken from there so he cannot possibly identify with black people over here, i hate todays focus on race im black and i dont feel discriminated against i dont feel held back i dont feel inferior to white women i dont feel like the government discriminates against me and i dont feel that just because a person who is part black is gonna be president that its gonna make a big difference in my life and i dont appreciate a girl who is so desperate to be seen as black when she isnt but also wants to appeal to white people is opening doors for me, the doors are just as open for me as they are for white girls because im a person not a skin tone

I don’t think B is getting old. She’s just a grown woman now, and not a teenager anymore. B’s been in the game a long time, so I can understand her wanting to do more things. I think that as long as she keeps giving 110% like she’s been doing, and growing as an artist as she grown in her real life, she will be around for a lifetime. Lord knows her stans ain’t going nowhere, lol! I heart B!
