Jessica Alba Brushes Up On Her Spanish!
June 26, 2008
In an ever changing world where it is not enough to just speak your native tongue, Jessica Alba is looking to make sure her baby is bilingual. Some may not have known that Jessica has Latin roots but hasn’t spoken fluent Spanish in years.
“Jessica wants to try to brush up on her language skills so that she can start speaking Spanish at home in front of Honor,” a friend of the 27-year-old tells OK!.
That’s right Jessica, start all her lessons at home. Thoughts?

Lo amo. Quisiera que mis sobrinas y sobrinos hablaran espanol tambien.
Ohhh, NOW she wants to be a Latina? *sighs*
Phatz you took the words right out my mouth. like, it’s nice and everything but she was so negative for SO long about people referring to her as latina and claiming that she wasn’t but NOW she wants to be one…..
either way, i still think it’s a good thing so the baby knows her latin side
Im half spanish, and I wish I could speak it fluently but lets face it Ive taken spanish classes from the second grade through high school, and again in undergrad. Still No espanola. I wont to contine to work on it while im in grad school. So good luck to her honey
latin and mexican are two different things..
i find it hard to believe she wants to speak spanish n the home.. because she’s so against claiming what nationality she is and believing in her culture… she’s never concidered herself mexican…
phatz i agree
Ally,
A Latino is anyone of Latin American or spanish speaking descent. Mexicans are included. Hispanic or Latino are used interchangeably.
I’m all for her wanting the baby to know it’s heritage, but she made a complete fool of herself denouncing who she is and the people that came before her, to the public. If she felt that way, I can totally understand. She might’ve been going through some sort of identity crisis. It’s not uncommon for children who don’t grow up speaking Spanish to feel detached. Some people look at it as a disgrace.
