Oprah Says: “Money Isn’t Everything!”

June 16, 2008

Oprah Winfrey June 16, 2008Let me just start this one with a take me higher lord! The Queen of Media, Oprah Winfrey, gave the commencement speech to 4,000 Stanford University graduates. During that speech she told them to remember that money isn’t everything.

“Money is pretty nice,” she continued. “I like money. It’s good for buying things. But having a lot of money does not automatically make one a successful person. What you want is money and meaning — you want your work to be meaningful, because meaning is what brings the real richness to your life.”

I’ll tell you what, let’s test that theory and tomorrow she should deposit $50 million in my account. Thoughts?

For if money isn’t everything, she can fill up my bank account. She’s only saying that cause she has billions. My broke ass can’t say that cause I saving money I don’t have.

I agree with Oprah. You can have all the money in the world, but when you leave here, you can’t take it with you. You won’t be remembered for it. But, if you did something meaningful with it or to obtain it, that’s what will live on forever. Money comes and goes.

I so agree with all the “What so and so said”. If she didn’t have that money we wouldn’t even be replying to this post! HOLLA

Wow I guess Oprah was born rich, because the way some of you are typing sounds like hate to me. I agree with Oprah, money isn’t everything. As a matter of fact look it up:

1 Timothy 6:10, which states “For the LOVE of money is the ROOT of all EVIL. Some have been led astray from the faith in their GREED, and have pierced themselves through with many SORROWS.”

She appreciates her money but by no means does she love it. Damn come on y’all, “success is not the key to hapiness, hapiness is the key to success, if you love what you do you will be successful.”~Albert Schweitzer

Ok, I’m off my soap box. Love ya B. Keep doin’ what you’re doin’.

As someone whose family works in the funeral home business, one of the biggest lessons I learned from my mother is that with money and material possessions, you cant take it with you so look it with a grain of salt. Oprah is right. I know other posters say yeah she is saying that because she is rich. But the reason why Oprah is rich is because she gives so much of fortune away, and it comes back to her tenfold.

We also have to look at people who have gained immense wealth, but in the end left this earth penniless and unhappy, now that is food for thought.
