New Music Video: Solange - I Decided
June 5, 2008
On Wednesday night, BET’s Access Granted premiered the new video by Solange for her first single “I Decided” from her sophomore album Sol-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams. I love the video so super duper much! It is so different from what you are hearing on the radio and seeing on television. Don’t you love muffins think this video is stellar?

Court on June 5, 2008 at 5:34 am #
I love the video…its diffrent and refreshing….the best part about it, is that she’s making a name for herself and the video is a clear portrait of her self instead of a reflection of Beyonce….You go SOLANGE!
THEACE4YOU on June 5, 2008 at 5:59 am #
THAT SHIT SUCKS, STOP LYING PEOPLE
Youngin19 on June 5, 2008 at 6:43 am #

Yea it’s cute, look at little Salonge tryin 2 come up…but lets be serious ppl, she’s bey’s shadow!
Now her song “Feelin you” was underrated, but this 60’s shit. She has 1 more strick then shes out.
Kasandra on June 5, 2008 at 6:46 am #
Not really feeling it! I like that it’s different though…maybe the next single will be better…
TJ on June 5, 2008 at 6:51 am #
I was surprised at how much I liked it. It is different, which she has always been. She looks very pretty and I like the history she slid in it as well. I can see the Cee-lo influence.
mrsFAB on June 5, 2008 at 6:52 am #
She looks cute…… but the song, “me no likey.” Did I say she looks cute?
Candy Girl on June 5, 2008 at 6:57 am #

uLUVit on June 5, 2008 at 7:55 am #
I Commend her for steppin outside the box..it dont make me wanna buy her album but the vid is cute. Hey if Christina Aguil can do a retro album so can Solange I suppose.
C-mo on June 5, 2008 at 7:58 am #
This song and video are amazing what are you all talking about? It’s so throwback and new school. Open your ears and listen again! Btw, she looks so good.
Sell_ah_one on June 5, 2008 at 9:09 am #
I saw this video on BET and thought it was creative especially the fact that she did the choreography, however the song was iffy for me. I like the supremes sound of it but her voice seemed very forced. I’m not ready to give up on her yet though.
Kilprity on June 5, 2008 at 9:39 am #
That Video Was HAWT….Love The Black Power movement Theme
SnijanaFleur on June 5, 2008 at 9:44 am #
I want to hear it on the radio over & over.
Jeez…I’ve been listening to it since it came out. It’s a breath of fresh air. She sound good & she looks great. I wish her success.

B. Scott, thanks for posting this video. It took me back.
For all those who could not appreciate the video, Need to look a little closer. It has history in it. Like the part with the fire hose. Do you remember seeing any of that, living it?
It’s the right video for the right time with Obama’s nomination for the Democratic Party. It’s a fun way to show 4 decades of history in 4 minutes and show, We can and shall overcome.
patrick2010 on June 5, 2008 at 10:38 am #
i luv it. dont be surprised when this wins video of the year….solange is definitly proving nay sayers wrong, including me….great job solange!
Southern Queen Dee on June 5, 2008 at 11:09 am #
For every one saying she’s Bey’s shadow, please listen to her song “God Given Name”. She ain’t trying to be Beyonce, the girl wants to be herself! And I think she’s doing a damn good job. She’s different and refreshing with what she’s bringing and I hope she sticks to it and is successful at it because I think it’s her niche. Go ahead and do you, Solo!
Riley on June 5, 2008 at 11:19 am #
Love the song. The vid is kool too

THAT SONG IS GARBAGE. STOP LYING TO THAT GIRL
Shak on June 5, 2008 at 12:34 pm #
I’m surprised to say that I liked it very much. I had to kind of catch myself up to the mid-tempo vibe, but I really dug it! And it reminded me of how good a dancer she is too because she has a natural flow/ rhythm that shines thru. I wish her luck with the new album.
honeybfly on June 5, 2008 at 12:52 pm #
Yo I really really love this song.
VOGUE on June 5, 2008 at 1:03 pm #
NICE SONG.
EVEN BETTER VIDEO.
LOVED IT.
Max on June 5, 2008 at 1:39 pm #
I am loving this song and the video. All of those people who like Beyonce, you do not have to compare these two very different and talented women. The only thing they share is a mother and a father. If Janet Jackson can step outside of her brother Michael’s shadow, so can this talented sibling. Give her time and room to grow!
Tee on June 5, 2008 at 4:20 pm #
It is okay but the video has too much going on..also, I’m not feeling the heavy scences with the fire hose and bomb going off over this care free light song…she could have left that and the space part off. Her nose job looks great…
S_Cupcake on June 5, 2008 at 5:36 pm #
nice video but I don’t really see anything new about about it….eh. She dances like her sister, and she looks like her sister, and she talks like her sister…and I’m not trying to force this connection because even if they weren’t related that would be the first thing that came to my mind. I feel as though for her to get out of her sister’s shadow completely she would have to change genres or something.
Genesis on June 5, 2008 at 7:29 pm #
Its Ok, I love the video.. traveling through times of african american history, but the song doesn’t capture me. If
I have to listen to the song 2 and 3 times whats the point? The lyrics are ok but its not single material, Single material is something you can find poppin in the club or on the radio or atleast something I am really feelin.
angelamaria1858 on June 5, 2008 at 8:45 pm #
The history thing was cool, but I didn’t like the song. Sorry. I am not gonna say that it suck but it is not my taste. Maybe she has to grow on me!!
Tonya on June 5, 2008 at 9:20 pm #
Nice video, at least it was unique.
VZWatcher on June 5, 2008 at 9:57 pm #
Okay I LOVE IT TO Della Reese’s pieces…I just think it is a little Deena Jones meets Tracee Ellis Ross meets Beyonce in Gold Memeber!
john on June 6, 2008 at 12:04 am #
i want to say that I like it…cause i always like to support what the knowles are doing cause I love them…especially beyonce…but i’m not really feelin this song or video…it sounds too old like from a different era…i think she needs to fast forward and stick to what this generation sounds like…i was hoping for in in your face debut like beyonce crazy in love…but unfortunately i didn’t think this was catchy…but the video images were great.
Mills Nills on June 6, 2008 at 6:28 am #
I like it but damn the family resemblence is unbelievable- especialy when her hair is up. She looks like a thinner beyonce- I like the video though it s not her fault they look so much alike, sound alike- they are sisters

WAS THIS VIDEO TOTALLY RIPPED OFF FROM A 2005 FLORIA SIGISMONDI VIDEO?? “YOU DECIDE”

wow, that song is so fun, it’s a calorie burner! she looks just like orlando jones to me. poor baby.

SOLANGE STOLE THIS VIDEO!!!!!
check it out - this concept is NOT new. she stole everything in this video…from the imagery, to the transitions in the video. originally done in 2005/2006 by Floria Sigismondi, for the band The Living Things. what a shame that Melina is getting all the credit…

“you decide”!!
matt on June 9, 2008 at 8:09 am #
i love the song but vocally she has nothing on beyonce
Dnicety on June 10, 2008 at 8:02 am #
Go Solange!!!!
H-Town represent. I am very proud of her. The song is great and the video is too. The first time we hear something is always strange. But it does grow on you. People, stop comparing her to her sister. Guess what, Beyonce is her sister!!!!!!!! Dah, there are going to be similarities, That she can’t help. I loved the first album, which was very underappreciated by the public, media, and yes management!!!! I’m sure I will love the second even more. ou Go Girl, LOVE YOU MUCH!!!!!!!!!
