New Music: Donnie J - Rolling Stone
May 6, 2008
Love muffins, even though Donnie from MTV’s Making The Band 4 did not make the band, he did managed to ink a solo deal. Then there was the drama we witnessed with the “maybe they are or maybe they’re not” relationship with Aubry from Danity Kane. With his look and sound, it seems as if Donnie and Diddy could be trying to move Timberlake and Timbaland out of the top spot of singer and producer duos - it just won’t be with this single. Donnie has a good quality to his voice, but it seems as if he’s trying too hard with too many effects in this song. It doesn’t have a natural groove. It could be a little better. Is it too legit or does he need to quit? Thoughts?

I’ve heard about 3 songs so far and they all pretty much sound the same. I guess the T-pain is in right now…again. Cuz we know it didn’t originate with him, but he kinda brought it back. I don’t think his ablum will do that well, it’s like he’s trying to hard or something. I can’t quite put my finger on it. It just seems like it’s not the type of music he should be singing or something. But he seems like a really nice guy, I just wish Diddy would’ve taken the time to find a niche that works better for him.

*Gasp* I thought the poor little dude would have never really got his chance to shine like the high schoolers! Good thing Combs is somewhat holding out on his part *roll eyes*

Um, some people just don’t have the ’star’ quality and I feel like thats him.
