I am loving Janet this time around. She is fantastic. I am definitely feeling the those tracks. I loved 20 YO nad Damita Jo, but I can definitely see why they were considered ‘flops’…at least by Janet Jackson record selling standards. Okay, well, besides the lack of promotion and record label support/album pushing, I think the biggest issue Janet has had with the past two albums is the fact that she was not staying true to her roots. Fans wanted ‘traditional Janet’…not hop hop driven beats behind her music. I think her past record label was trying to hard to market her as a artist of our generation. I am in my early 20’s. The reality is that although Janet can be VERY relevant, she is still an artist of yester-year. Her hardcore fans have grown up and they want music to remind them of why they became Janet fans in the first place. However, based on the singles that I’ve heard, I feel they are going for a more pop record. Although, I don’t think this the ‘Velvet rope’ part 2, I do feel it has it’s place. Times have changed and so has the music. I love Janet and I am loving the songs off this album. I can definitely see this record being the ‘classic/traditional’ Janet album for our generation just as the Velvet rope or janet. was for our parents/etc. So, I give 3 cheers for Janet. For her to be able to stay relevant in an industry that prides itself on “here today, gone tomorrow”, she is definitely here to stay. JUST BE SURE TO GO OUT AND SUPPORT HER BY BUYING THE RECORD ON 2/26. The record drops in about a week and a half so I am positive it will be leaking soon. Don’t do it. I know it will be incredibly hard, but we need to support our girl. XOXO, RJ.

LOL…Excuse my spelling/grammar errors. I typed it super duper fast. Sorry about that…but I think you get the point. Bottom line, Janet is back, Janet is great and Janet needs our support. 2/26. XOXO, RJ.

“FRESHANDFAB”, I am afraid so. *sigh*. I am a Janet fanatic, trust me, but I wish I really, really, REALLY wish she would get back with Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis ONLY!!!

I am so excited about the album. I refuse to download these because I want to anticipate the album like I used to and go and support her with a purchase.
I agree Mark about Jam and Lewis but I will take her either way. I just want the tour. Bring me the tour!!

  15. wuvie on February 17, 2008 at 6:01 pm #

Oh please, it’s not like he is forcing you to download it, get over it.

Songs are mediocre, could have been better, her voice is just too soft and sometimes you can’t hear what she is actually saying, but nice beats.

I have a feeling this is going to be another “20yo” album.. poor janet she tries too hard.

  16. RJ on February 17, 2008 at 6:05 pm #

I guess every asshole has an opinion…right wuvie ?

I should not have to listen to one of Janet’s songs over and over again for it to “grow on me”. Back before Janet started dating that midget and letting everyone and their moms help make her album her stuff sounded good. Her last GOOD album was “All 4 U”. Damito Jo was trash. 20 Y.O. was trash. Discipline, from what I have heard, is trash as well. She needs to get back with Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam and keep the rest away from her music. Her music now sounds like watered down “wanna be” hip songs that don’t sound right. Im disappointed once again. Get it together, Janet.

I won’t listen to the new tracks until the album is out, but I just did my latest blog on JANET addressing all of the HATERS!! Check it out.

  23. Loving these tracks on February 18, 2008 at 12:03 pm #

I am loving these new tracks. I am running to buy it. AND for all of those people who want Janet to work with Jimmy and Terry again… Please remember that they worked on Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. Everyone has to evolve including an ICON like Janet.

  24. tee on February 18, 2008 at 6:11 pm #

I love me some Janet, but these tracks SUCK! Dammit Janet 20 YO was better than this and that is not saying much…

  25. Derrick on February 18, 2008 at 6:24 pm #

Everyone has there opinion. When you have done 10 albums…its almost certain that one or two of those will disappoint peeps. For me…this is the best ever. I cant pick between rollercoaster and so much better….my favorite track thus far is rock with you. She will hit platinum…maybe double with the tour.

  26. BeautifulBoy on February 18, 2008 at 7:02 pm #

I don’t think all these tracks will be on the album if what DarkChild said in an interview was true. Seems he produced several tracks for the album. But the only one worth listening to out of the selections B put up to me was the one featuring Missy.

I have to agree with those that said that she was a lot better when she had that magic of Jimmy and Terry, although I loved 20 Y.O. and Damita Jo even more…that lil’ Damita Jo intro song was quite delicious. These are very weak to me. Sadly even if it is crappy I am still buying it and showing support. I’ve got to stop that habit of buying just to be buying.

  27. .: R-H :. on February 18, 2008 at 7:04 pm #

    I really loving rollercoaster…
that should be the next single…
    I’m Definitely buying the album

so far her album sounds like a flop. I am not buying it. she is over. she came back with recycled music, swagger jacking younger artists.
