They’re Back….American Idol Returns!
January 15, 2008
The Writers Strike is in full effect and I’m bored. Aside from the occaisional episode of Desperate Housewives or Brothers and Sisters, my television schedule is all jacked up. American Idol has a 2-hour premiere tonight on FOX so I’m looking forward to getting hopelessly hooked on that for the next three months. I seriously hope this season is better than last year. I want some real genuine talent, not any of that Sanjaya crap. It’s cool to laugh at some of the people who aren’t that good, but I like watching the real singers a lot more. At the very least, Paula Abdul and Simon will be entertaining.
Are you excited about the new season of American Idol?

I’m so excited that it’s really silly. I pray that they remember to let some good ones through as they strive to entertain us with the bad ones.

AI is my crack. I look forward to it every year. I have gotten bored with the bad auditions though. Last year they focused way too much time on that. Plus, I really don’t care about the contrived drama. Remember the Antonella girl with the racy pics? Who cares?? Just sing! And that Sanjaya business was amusing for a second, if that. He was a distraction that got a lot of better talented folks cut early. Not fun to watch.

Sanjaya was a cutie-pie. He was a little silly at the end but the boy could sing. Just look back at his audition tapes. I don’t know why people hated on him so much. He should have been in the top four, at least.
