Say What? Roseanne Lets Oprah Have It!

January 10, 2008

image49.gif vanity-fair-africa-oprah.jpg

On her blog, Roseanne, went on a rant about Oprah Winfrey and her support for Barack Obama. If I’ve learned one thing in, I know you don’t mess with Oprah. Messing with Oprah is like messing with the Mob. It will be a cold day in hell before you hear me saying something bad about the Big O. I love my life too much! Check out what she had to say:

Barack Obama is an empty suit selling “hope” in lieu of Truth. Oprah Winfrey helped to elect Arnold Swartzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their “fair share” of Cali tax.

Oprah has given us Schwarzenegger and Dr. Phil. If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama. He has no ideas, no plan and nothing to add other than the cynical pacification of the masses with bedtime stories about hope, while calling Unions “special interest groups” that need to be done away with.

Obama votes with Bush constantly funding this terrible endless war.

Oprah, you play the race card and the gender card too.

You are a closeted republican and chose Barak Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, hollywood and dieting!

When Americans find out that Obama backs right wing corporate racist anti worker bullshit, they will not vote for him, and the victory will go to the most racist right wing republican ever…. Mccain, who is a fascist!

That the culinary service workers in vegas have promised barak their vote,( he is anti union in his votes) over edwards, who is a pro-union man, just proves how stupid americans are and how they can be tricked so easily by the color of a person’s skin…exactly what MLK hated!

Obama doesn’t even back reproductive rights for any woman! It is historical that Oprah Winfrey, beloved of women, chooses a flashy man with small credentials over a seasoned woman politician with 35 years of experience…and sells that to the female demographic who look to her for inspiration!”

What are your thoughts love muffins? Was Roseanne out of line or right on point?

Rosie always goes overboard. I don’t think that there is much the big O could do to Rosie if she wanted to.

  2. Pattycakes on January 10, 2008 at 7:20 pm #

Roseanne had a point…but she went about all wrong…Don’t attack the O…just state the facts…

  3. Samysung on January 10, 2008 at 7:23 pm #

Rosanne rubs me the wrong way most of the time. This time though she’s speaking nothing but the truth. Hopefully Americans will wake up before it’s too late. Oprah’s only agenda is to grow her ratings and expand her empire and feel important, that’s why she is pushing obama.

  4. Whatever on January 10, 2008 at 7:25 pm #

Well Rosanne your thoughts about Obama are like your future in entertainment! NO ideas, NO plan and NOTHING to add!

  5. Kiemie on January 10, 2008 at 7:42 pm #

The scary thing is that she is absolutely, undeniably correct. Now excuse me while I find a cave to hide in. Oprah don’t play. She’s gonna take one of Roseanne’s vital organs in her sleep and donate it to the Angel Network.

  6. Bird on January 10, 2008 at 8:23 pm #

Is she trying to revive her career or somthing? Who cares what she has to say about anything? Didn’t she leave her husband and children for a Hollyweird career? She sounds like a lunatic. I am not in the know when it comes to Hill’s political career. I know she has been a senator for about as long as Barack, but what policital office did she hold before that? Are we supposed to count her years as first lady as political experience? What about Whitewater? Yeah she’s a politician alright. And I love these people making the argument that change is impossible and Barack is dreaming. Are they happy with the status quo?

  7. Bobbi on January 10, 2008 at 8:24 pm #

First of all, Oprah doesn’t NEED to boost her ratings. Secondly, she has NEVER endorsed any other Presidential candidate. Why bash Oprah for her opinion? If you don’t want Barack Obama to win, fine. But let it just be that. No need to make disparaging remarks. Look at what we have in office right now. Can it get that much worse, really?

  8. Ivyz1 on January 10, 2008 at 8:56 pm #

I believe that every American has a right to endorse whomever they choose to. Rosie’s remarks remind me of those people who criticize celebrities for having political convictions. Aren’t celebs Americans, also. I am neither here or there about Hillary or Obama. I am not even one of the biggest Oprah fans out there, but if that woman has amassed wealth and influence, I believe that she not only has a right to change policy if she finds it faulty, but she has a responsibility. Maybe her choice is all wrong, time will tell that story, but to whom much is given, much is required, and Oprah uses that which she has been blessed with to champion her causes. I believe she should be commended for that, for such action could derail her meteoric rise, more so than catapult it. Godspeed to you Oprah, and to Rosie, stop hating!

American need no racist leader. If you all want a proof, look at “snopes.com”.

Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. ? When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta.Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran. Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any reverence for our flag. Oprah — in supporting Obama has wronged many American Hard working people. Oprah supports of Obama has big potential to lead america to self-destruction from within. Hopefully American are smarter then this. Oprah, you’ve given a lot of power to the wrong person by a lot - this ones. Too bad many ppl love Oprah. Hopefully, American will NOT disappoint themselves since their credentials to Oprah are highest. Oprah has not made a good decision whom to support this time. Obama is detrimental to the American politics. How can Oprah, you know; The Oprah make such bad decisions of supproting such a person. This time, I wonder whom Oprah has become. The Steadman left her probably - on good terms due to her wrongful late decisions. And the whole truth shell be hidden.

“America” — shut the f*ck up. you just prove how idiotic and stupid most americans are. The very site you source is the one to disprove your dumb assed claim.

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

everyone who is preparing to make a political decision whether it is democratic or republican, get your facts about the candidates from reputable sources - and not eballers online. it will serve you better that way.

Its amazing to me how everybody is mad at Oprah for picking a candidate.. Everybody has their picks for a reason. If Oprah feels Barak is the man, so be it..just like those who want Hilary, or John McCain.. Why is it that other people can have a favorite candidate and endorse them to the 9s but Oprah is constantly bashed for doing the same thing? It seems like ppl of color will go out of their way to prove that ‘Just because I’m Blk, I’m not voting for Obama’. Ever heard of reverse psychology.. gets yall every time!

Roseanne spoke the truth and I am a Black woman. I was considering voting for him because Oprah was backing him up and that he is a Black man. It’s a toss up between Hillary and Obama. I like Hillary’s style.

Unfortunately. Ms Barr seems to believe that American women and people of color are incapable of making well-considered decisions about political candidates. Moreover, Ms Barr appears to have anointed Ms Winfrey the leader of women and people of color. Because some people read what Ms Winfrey suggests does not mean they will vote as she votes. Ms W has consistently encouraged people to think critically and to make informed choices about every facet of their lives.

  19. Brandon on January 10, 2008 at 10:37 pm #

Wow, I was waiting for SOMEONE to lead the charge on publicly calling out Obama for being an “empty suit” but who ever would have guessed it would be ROSEANNE of all people!? AND she’s taking on Lady O at the same time!?

You a brave bitch, Roseanne. But she’s got my support. I hate to say it, but as much as I love Lady O but Roseanne is definitely dead on with most of comments.

Oprah kept saying that she was campaigning with Obama because she felt she had to. BITCH PLEASE. Love Lady O to death but I’m no idiot. Oprah has never before in her LIFE backed a candidate like she did Obama. And never did she discuss the issues, like she would have if she were really personally invested in this thing, but gave us more of the same “I Have a Dream” speeches that Obama’s been shoving on us from the jump.

She hopped on the bandwagon just like every other celebrity and used her influence to give Obama an advantage.

  20. ElleJoie on January 10, 2008 at 11:10 pm #

Having read Obama’s platform at ontheissues.org, I am loathe to imagine that Ms Barr would be ridiculous enough to mouth the words that have been attributed to her. Anyone interested in any candidates should read online transcripts of the debates. Regardless of whom you wish to become president, do not listen to anyone’s glib, unverified statements. Do the research.

“just proves how stupid americans are and how they can be tricked so easily by the color of a person’s skin” and this means??? People believe because he’s Black he’s………….what? And I love it when people tell us what Dr. King meant. So she’s definitely not talking to “Stupid Americans”, she meant Black Americans (or can she only tell you what other people meant). First real chance of a Black President and now everyone is being tricked, everything is out of control! She could of left that out. I think neither matter, go to youtube and watch George Carlin’s Owners of America clip.

Whom ever you are that wrote the above comment, pick up a book and stop finding random facts off the internet. Whether or not the man is Muslim, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, etc. should have absolutely no bearing on whether or not he will or will not make a good president. You might also want to look up the term “jihad” because American’s have it severely twisted — it is a loaded term and should not be taken to just have one meaning.

  23. Redmsus on January 10, 2008 at 11:55 pm #

first let me say kiemie that was too funny. LOL.

I usually disagree with rosie and suprisingly this time she has stated my thoughts about Obama ONLY!! exactly (one of her writers had to prepare that rant for her) She or her writers speak the truth but not about Oprah.

I have a problem with attacking a black women attempting to protect there money or make more money because white businessmen/women, chinese business men, and jewish businessmen do it all the time and it’s call business. So Oprah doing it I say go for it.

These are the things that men like my husband, uncle, and grandfather fought in wars to protect. We as americans and more importantly voters need to go out there and find the information we need so that when we go to the poles we are informed. Most importantly, when we go to the poles we should not be voting on the bases or bias (depending upon how you look at it) of gender or color.

I would love to have a woman president (I vote for Oprah)but I want the right woman president that will do a bang up job.

I would love to have an african american president ( I vote for Colin Powell) but I want the best african american president.

First of all, Barr’s claims are off. It sounds like she’s borrowing her glib and inaccurate portrayal of Obama on others’ equally glib and inaccurate portrayals, not on Obama’s record in the Democratic debates, in Congress, or in the Illinois legislature.

Second, what’s with Barr thinking that Oprah Winfrey is Goddess of Women and Black People? Oh, come on! You can watch her show, read her magazines, and still know your own mind. The suggestion that women’s and black people’s interests are monolithic and unchanging is ridiculous, and it demeans us.

Third, I worry when something like Barr’s remarks get a lot of attention, particularly when they spew misinformation and promote uninformed decision-making. On the issue of reproductive rights, Barr completely misrepresents Obama’s position. He is pro-choice; make no mistake about it. But that isn’t even the point. Abortion rights are ultimately decided by the Legislative and Judicial branches, not by the Executive. Obama was critical of the decision to go to war in the beginning and has continued to ask important questions about current military strategies in Iraq.

Finally, I’d like to address the issue of hope. What the hell is wrong with having hope and shooting for more than the same old half-assed political nonsense we’ve seen for so long? Senator Clinton and others (not Barr) who have criticized Obama for all his talk of hope are often very intelligent people whom I admire. But I abhor the pessimism inherent in claiming the belief that we can be better is a naive one.

Anyone in this nation who has benefited from Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, or Gay Rights movements should understand that simply asking those in power for what you know they will give you will not lead to any significant gains. Only by envisioning MORE than the scant bits the Powers That Be are willing to begrudge you can you even begin to formulate a plan. The world changes, and maybe it’s time that we demand more from our leaders than worn out claims that ‘all that can be done is being done.’ There is always more to be done, more to struggle for, more to hope for.

My point: make decisions based on research of the candidates and the issues (both domestic and international), not based on something Rosanne Barr says or who Oprah Winfrey supports.

And she will never work in this town again…..She just committed acting suicide. Luckily for her the American public has a memory of about 2 years. But I guess she has nothing to lose.

  26. R.A.S.Berry on January 11, 2008 at 7:35 am #

She ain’t got no damn point. Sorry, but this just pissed me off. Am I the only one who “knows” Rosanne? Okay, she’s been out of the spot light for a while, but she’s always said stuff that was just like…..huh?, lol. How dare she pull the race card. First you talk about Arnold (who’s white), then you pull the race card. Please. I don’t care who people vote for because that is there business….so why is Lady O any different. Rosanne just looking for attention. And what better way to get it?…..insult Oprah.

rosie is a fat and bored has-been, trying to keep her name out there, ruffle some feathers. and what she says is gospel because………? exactly. so since she’s in the biz of name-clalling and mud-slinging, how about she go and stick her pasty, two-tons-o-fun, loud mouthed, pig-faced, can’t-keep-a-man-to-save-her-life OUT OF WORK BITTER FUGLY @$$ head first in a toilet bowl. better yet, her and her E-BALLS need to go say that ish to someone’s face!!!!

and PLEASE! stop doing photo shoots in lingerie. i need to rinse my eyes out now-BLEH!

why the hell is Roseanne is so upset with Oprah b/c she’s with Obama? If
Roseanne doesn’t agree with with Oprah’s opinion than okay, u don’t have to just like u don’t have to vote for Obama.

  30. dawnderer26 on January 11, 2008 at 10:28 am #

I think Roseanne has the right to voice her opinion. I would like to hear Oprah respond.

  31. Deuce on January 11, 2008 at 1:37 pm #

Y’all are so funny to me. You’re saying that it’s bad for Roseanne to be attacking “the big O” for voicing her support for Obama (ick) but HELLO people, just as Oprah has the right to voice her support for Obama, Roseanne has the right to voice her disapproval of Oprah’s support. So there. It’s a two way street.

And for the record, I’m pretty much in total agreeance with Roseanne. Obama is nothing but an empty suit and he doesn’t have HALF the experience he should to even think he could be president of this country. He’s trying to capitalize and rely on the hype of a black man running for office to take him there. I hope America wises up and sees this.

It is very interesting to me that people are bashing Oprah for expressing her right as an American citizen!! I would say to everyone to really weigh this out it is honestly to soon to make a decision…To think that Barack Obama could not run the White House is quite humorous to me… We do need a new way of doing business in Washington. I am a lobbyist in Washington and I have worked with government for many years. Believe me when I tell you the Clintons are no less dangerous as the Bushes… Barack Obama from my view is a breath of fresh air and I believe that he will be a great President.

  37. Judas on January 12, 2008 at 4:30 pm #

Shut the HELL up Ro-insane, where were you when Geoge Bush was selected as the President to squander the fabrics of American lives 7 years ago and running? oh you have no odd things to say then because he is white? ofcourse it’s a race card because you believe in this perpetual white bullshit, it’s a new dawn, sane people in America need another race in the white house this time around and OBAMA is the right one at the moment. Hillary is a good person but not because she is white and thinks white people should be the only ones able to run the affairs of America. Be careful Roassane, White people has told so many lies to the American people for many years, emmassing wealth with the citizens tax dollars, why are you afraid that the secret will be exposed if OBAMA goes to the white white??? Everyone pay taxes, why shouid the white people be the only one to manage the affairs for many centuries, stop the greed, enough is enough… Thank God George Bush is not a Blackman, Hispanic, Asian or native American, imagine what you Rosanne and white people would say…they are just dumb people leaving in 100 centuries backward.
