Beauty Feature: Carol’s Daughter
December 3, 2007

Lisa Price began creating beauty products in her kitchen in the 80s. Her experimentation eventually led to a mail-order and online business in 1993, followed by the Brooklyn opening of a store in 1999. Now, Carol’s Daughter is carried by Sephora and Macy’s nationwide. The beauty line offers over 300 products for women, men, and children. Check out some of their best sellers after the jump!
Lisa’s Hair Elixir, which is made with sage, rosemary, and a blend of soy, almond, and peppermint, condition the hair and promotes hair growth.

The Saturday Morning Special is a collection that includes the Rosemary Mint Shampoo with Sea Moss to strengthen hair, the Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner to detangle, Hair Milk, Healthy Hair Butter which minimizes breakage, Tui Hair Oil to rejuvenate over-stressed tresses, and Kizzi “Stay Put” Hair Pomade.

Essential Serum is a great product that helps absorb excess oils in the skin.

The Ylang-Ylang & Patchouli Gentle Face Wash is a cleanser that may be used daily to keep a clear skin and unclogged pores.

Carol’s Daughter recently added Candy Paint Lip Gloss (12 different shades) which contains no lead, petroleum, mineral oil, parabens, or artificial colors.

Carol’s Daughter offers six exotic blends of fragrances to complement every moment. Almond Cookie is a blend of almond, vanilla, and sandlewood. Jamaican Punch combines the scents of fruits, flowers, and spices with a touch of vanilla. Ecstasy is a mix of pineapple, mango, strawberry, peach, and vanilla with hint of Egyptian musk. Groove is a wonderful unisex scent of pear, peach, and raspberry, warm with sandalwood, musk, and vanilla. Mango Mélange is a fresh blend of pineapple, tangerine, mango, and lime. Ocean is another unisex scent with a blend of watermelon, cucumber, hyacinth, and rosemary oils which formulate this romantic fragrance.

I’ve used Carol’s Daughter products for my hair and skin for more than a year…and they are worth every penny! I’m a grad student whose money isn’t all that right, but I put this stuff in the budget. I wear my hair natural, and my hair is SKRONG–but the hair milk and black vanilla leave-in conditioner make my hair softer and more managable than it’s EVER been! Also, the shea souffle is like your body getting a warm kiss every time you put it on! It’s wonderful for winter time, especially if you’re in a city with cold and dry weather. For exceptionally tough “ash,” consider the body butter–it’s thick and oily, but if youre body needs the moisture, it will work wonders. I’m sold, y’all! I know I sound like a commercial, but I don’t give a damn. Don’t take my word for it–try it yourself!

I too use the moisturizing products for body and hair and love them. Sometimes I let my hair grow out and the product is better than a comb through relaxer. It’s a favorite stop of mine when I go to NY. I have to hit up the Harlem store and rack up. Speaking of which I need to restock.

Love you B. Scott. Glad you put this on your site. I am a loyal Carol’s Daughter customer. A new store was just opened in LA at the Fox Hills Mall last month. Fellow “Love Muffins”, these products are for all races - the oils are great for hot oil treatments and the fragrances, bath salts, scrubs, and gels are the best. My favorites are: Ectasy, Ocean, and Almond Cookie.

I love Groove!!! I love her Hair Balm so much, I put it on my skin. It smells soo good! We just got it in Sephora out here on the West Coast, and I’m sooo excited.

My boyfriend actually introduced me to the product line. Groove has become my signature fragrance and he just loves it on me. I haven’t tried their hair and skin products yet though. Sounds like they’d be great for my natural hair.

I went blonde this spring/summer, and my left “edge” got very thin. I used “Some of Margurite’s Magic” hair cream twice a day and no lie, in 2 weeks, my babyhair was pumping again! I use all of her products, from bath salts/oils, to body butter, Hair Milk, Lisa’s Hair Elixir, Healthy Hair butter, all of the ALMOND COOKIE products, all of the OCEAN products, some GROOVE, everything. I just re-upped last month. Her stuff is the BOMB. And it really works!
