Although John Mayer and Adam Levine (of Maroon 5) are generally considered to be Rock musicians, they are some of the most soulful artists out there making music right now. While artists like Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke are generally given the label of “Blue Eyed Soul”, they are primarily R&B artists and generally work with Hip-Hop producers. John and Adam are rock artists who find ways to blend Blues and Soul into their Alternative/Rock music. Don’t think the soulful sounds of these two artists has gone unnoticed! The Hip-Hop and R&B community have recognized their talents and recruited them to appear on several collaborations. Both have soul but I am gravitating more toward John Mayer. “Gravity” and “Body Is A Wonderland” just does it for me on the soul tip.

I don’t know, I love them both. But if I had to choose, it would have to be John Mayer. He’s more naturally gifted lyrically and musically to me.

Neither. Jayson Kay of Jamiroquai…had it not been for him there would be no modern day soulful white male singers.
