One of our own Love Muffins, Michelle T., from New York has asked for some help. So here’s her problem:

Dear B.,
I have two events to go to in one day. The first is a business cocktail related to work and the other is a first date with a guy I recently met. The events are not the problem, but my wardrobe is! How can I maintain my professional appearance in front of my co-workers and give a little flair yet still look sexy enough for my date?

Response: Well, my little budding socialite, lets work you up from head to toe! I think a little black dress is always a cocktail classic! Versace makes the BEST cocktail dresses! Choose one with a plunging neck line or a doubled diagonal strap like the looks below.

You can tone it down for work by covering up with a designer shawl or perhaps a fitted blazer if the look works. If you want a mixture of sophisticated and sexy without being over the top - check out the Jean Paul Gaultier Open Back “Smoking” piece. The draping back is sophisticated yet sexy enough to work for dual-events.

Keep the shoe game classy for the business cocktail with a regular pair of pumps - basic black. Michael Kors’ “Cairo” pumps are basic but cute.

When you get out of the business cocktail meeting, do a quick change in your car. Apply just a touch of eyeliner and eyeshadow to bring out your eyes - M.A.C can provide the essentials.
